All the gals from my mosaic class I teach wanted to see where I sell my antique's, so off to Pacific Galleries Antique Mall we went. There's a few dealers that we all just love and Mathew is one of them. With an eye for merchandising and buying, his space is always a treat! There is something for everyone at this mall, we all left with something that put a grin on our faces. I found a deco shell lamp for my desk that I just love.

Golf Tournament in Vegas Leads to Some Insane Finds

Chris (my husband) was playing in a golf tournament in Vegas. I needed a break from working on my art. So off to Vegas we went with 6 of our friends! Doing a bit of research on some culinary

treats, I knew we needed to dine at TAO. At 42,000 square feet, TAO's entertainment complex is among the largest in the world and features Vegas' hippest nightclub, coolest ultra-lounge, and of course, the hottest restaurant in town. This "Asian City's" décor includes lush velvets and silks, waterfalls and century old woods and stones, and a hand-carved 20-foot-tall Buddha floating peacefully above an infinity pool complete with Japanese carp. INSANE FOOD AND Cocktail!!!

The New Barneys of New York was a personal fave for new fines, some of the jewelry designers that they showcased I just melted over such as Sevan Bicakci’s creations are inspired by his Turkish roots. From a ring modeled on a sultan’s turban to one reverse-engraved to resemble an ancient church, each mini-masterpiece ($2,000 to $20,000) is created from 24-karat gold, sterling silver, diamonds, and precious gems.

*So Much Eye Candy in Vegas. WOW Good Fun, Good Eats and Chris did Great !

Back when we were getting married I was not finding a topper for our wedding cake, so I put one together with some anitque bits and pieces. Have loved it ever sence! Well now I can't find a great card for Valentines Day (the best ones are always homemade anyway) so I just took a few shots of the cake topper and making it into my card :D

Heartbreaking News today about the Fire at Deyrolle Naturalisation. Many emails from a dear friend that lives in Paris Evan Beau ( who has worked at Deyrolle and has for years) he forwarded some photo's to me of a team trying to save some of the items out of the collection of taxidermy and dioramas of birds. There are hunderds of cabninets of curiosities unique to Europe that have vanished in the last 48 hours due to the fire and then water damage. This was a magical place for me when I first descovered it strolling the streets of Paris, Deyolle is allso called "The Strangest Little Shop in all of Paris" for a good reason! This wonderful place had been around sence 1831 , a plethera of teaching materials gone forever.Émile Deyrolle (ca.1830's-ca.1890's) was a French naturalist and natural history dealer. in Paris . The business was originally owned by his naturalist grandfather, Jean-Baptiste Deyrolle who opened his shop in 1831 at 23, Rue de la Monnaie. Émile’s father Achille Deyrolle ran the business for many years. Émile took over in 1866. The address from 1881 (and now) was (and is) 46, rue du Bac, the former home of Jacques Samuel Bernhart.Deyrolle specialized in natural history publications and specimens taxidermy, minerals, rocks, fossils, botanical specimens, shells, taxidermy, microscopic specimens and microscopes.

I was haven a bad hair day due to the rain & snow today, working hard on my displays. I turn around and there he was. His face like a ray of sun shine on a cloudy Seattle day !

Love Them, Then You'll Love Them Larger !

Well I've been hording some wonderful antique images for awhile. I finally decided to enlarge a few of my faves. This is where it's worth doing a bit of research. Find a great local photo lab, if your in Seattle highly recommend Ivy downtown. Look at your image under a scope "remember every little imperfection is going to be enlarged also. Frame out an area on the image that you think is interesting. You can also choose to have a black and white turned into a sepia tone (warm browns) so know what suits your area you plan to be putting it. Then when you pick the image up, take it with you and scout thur your local antique shops or framer for one that works with it." I like antique ones, but the framer has alternative ideas that may also work". Getting it matted is very important in pulling it all together, matting and the right glass will help in the preservation of the image. Do it right, you wont regret it!

Score!! An Old Chinese Apothecary Chest for my Studio

I'm so Excited to find this Wonderful Chinese Apothecary Chest for my Tools , Beads and all Small things in my Studio, I 'd been Working on Organizing Small in my Space, when I had a Friendly Visit from Mr Nutz . See Seattle Winters aren't so Bad. I did see Bathing Beauty and Dive Boomer today too ( local Ruby throated Hummers.) It Pays to Keep your Food up for your Feathered & Fury Friends. It's Wonderful to to have my Studio Space Facing my Garden, even in the Winter! Hey, , Have any Great Studio Organizing Ideas or photo's?

We found a Painting of a Lady at Tail of the Yak , this is a shop that I had heard about for awhile and had to seek it out in Berkley. Worth the trip in every way.
